Yesterday I talked about trauma and how to get over traumatic things in life but in a lot of ways trauma is actually easier to deal with and to move on from than the everyday travails of life.

And this is what I mean.

We might find life is difficult not because of any one huge and impactful event that has happened, more often than not it is what you might call *death by a thousand cuts* you know? It’s the little things, it’s the minor irritations, it’s the minor inconveniences.

And the problem with these “minor” things is that in and of themselves each one is, what we think, too small to be significant. Too small to hijack our lives in any critical way.

But the fact is it’s this cumulative effect of small things that ultimately messes our lives up. It’s the toll of dealing with all the small things, the toll it takes on our mental capacities and our emotional energies that leaves us tired, depleted, making bad decisions because we’re tired and depleted and so on and so forth.

So today’s daily grain wants you to look at how these minor things have collected in your life, and to look at them as not the minor inconveniences or difficulties that they seem to be but as minor inconveniences and difficulties that you don’t need to have in your life.

And you really don’t.

You don’t need to have a single thing impinging on your joy and peace if you don’t want it. And that is a key thing.

Because we put up with these minor differences and difficulties for what we consider are better things in our lives. It could be a person, it could be a career path, it could be material things that we want.

The point is to weigh up the total weight of the difficulties that you are currently experiencing in your life and the total weight of the conveniences you think it gives you and see if they balance.

From a consciousness perspective anything that comes between you and finding your ultimate self and finding ultimate peace and contentment, is a bad bargain. Because when you reach that happy spot you will find many things that are convenient and that satisfy you at a very deep level.

So the tradeoff is do you want what satisfies you now but inconveniences you greatly? Or do you want total satisfaction?
