While we’re on the topic of pretending, let’s look at that because many of us may be in situations or circumstances that we have not particularly chosen to be in at this point in time.

Hopefully on your journey towards consciousness that will slowly change, but for the moment, there we have it – you are in circumstances that you are pretending to like. And that is probably not very comfortable.

So what do we do?

One of the great ways to manage that kind of situation, is to find belief. And if you are not doing something you believe in, it might be well worth your while to find a way to believe in what you are doing.

Now that doesn’t necessarily mean you somehow tie yourself into a pretzel and subscribe to things that make you cringe, but it does mean finding a purpose and a reason for continuing to do what you are doing.

I will give you an example.

I was in a job that I utterly hated! There were aspects of it that I liked but in the main it was not me. It was not my personality. So it was a bad match. And I, for many years, really chafed at it and made myself utterly miserable because I would just focus on how much I didn’t like what I was doing.

So here is the *find a way to believe in it* coming in… till one day I sat myself down and went over the reasons I was in that job in the first place. And on a practical level and a material level it was benefiting me greatly.

But I hadn’t taken that into account because I had taken that for granted in many ways and until I sat myself down I didn’t recall all the good things that I was able to do in my life as a result of this.

And I could believe in that. I could totally believe in that. And that changed the flavor of the job entirely.

It didn’t become a grind, it became a stepping stone. And stepping stones have the full force of my belief behind them. And so it made it all astonishingly bearable.

For you today consider, depending on where you are in your life, can you find something to believe in? About what is going on in your life, about your circumstances. Find that ray of hope. Find that thread of purpose.

And if you can do that, all of these things, whichever one you find, can lead you to the next step. Can lead you to what you want to do and can lead you closer to your ideal.
