What is going on when you can’t see the way forward or sideways or upward? #beyourownguru #BYOG

So what is going on when you can’t see a way forwards or sideways or upward, where even things like crutches cease to help you, where you have no solution, you have no motivation to find a solution – what’s going on with that?

Well, if you find yourself in this place it means that you are thoroughly exhausted! It’s more than physical exhaustion, or emotional exhaustion it’s probably psychic exhaustion, where your soul is weary.

I would say in such a situation change is not as good as a rest because, the thing is, with change it is a load on your psyche, it is a load on your mental capacities, emotional, physical, you name it.

And when you’re exhausted you’re just exhausted, so you must rest. Rest your mind, rest your body, if you have the…, if it is go somewhere peaceful like a retreat center.

Every now and again I feel really strongly that I need to retreat from the world. And we all need that, actually, from time to time because there are so many conflicting things happening in life, so many day to day issues that we need to deal with, sometimes the mind and soul just need to rest.

And if this is you find that time.

If you are in a situation where you can’t take the time out right away, I would say the immediate solution is to start thinking about what you could do to create that space for yourself, to take the time out.

When I use to work 9 to 5 and at a consulting job, it was very, very intense during the days and I would come back home and I would just, regardless of the time sometimes it would be 10 or 10:30 or 11 [pm] if we had a long day’s work or complicated situation, and I would come back just sit out on the balcony and look at the stars.

And I’d just do absolutely nothing else – just look up and have zero my head. Nothingness. And that recharged me enough for the next day and the next day.

So even if it is as simple as that think about taking time out for yourself when there’s no external stimulus coming into your life, where you don’t have to talk, you don’t think, you don’t have to see what the next step is.

No. First. Just. Be still.

And let your body, mind, soul recover.
