Your Daily Grain for today: Know and understand your body. Take care of it and it will give you the gift of health in return. #beyourownguru #BYOG
So today and over the next several days, I’m going to be discussing YOU – what constitutes the you that exists in this world. And we’ll start off with the most fundamental one, the physical you: your body, your health.
Do you really KNOW your body, do you understand your body, do you LOVE your body – and I’m not talking about shape, size, appearance, looks none of that. When you think of the human physiology it’s a marvellous thing! Whenever I DO think about it, it’s a wonder to me that my body doesn’t break down more often than it does. Because there’s a whole lot of systems that have to work and coordinate and create a functional being that is you.
If we don’t take care of our physical health we are really not so well off, shall we say politely. But the reality is that we don’t often think of this.
So, if we are not at an optimum weight for ourselves, if we are not at an optimum conditioning for ourselves, that is going to break down sooner or later. This is just the way it is.
And when that happens, when you lose your health you can be pretty sure you’re not thinking much about other things. You know, career goes out the window, thoughts of money maybe get more stressful: you have ill-health – in today’s society it immediately equates to huge bills.
It makes just good sense to make sure that we’re in the best possible health we can be.
And so today I want you to think about all the things you do that are detrimental to your health and all the ways in which you can improve on that.
It doesn’t mean you have to immediately shoot off and embark on 50 different exercise programs or 50 different diets, but experiment and find out what combination of all of the above puts you in the best health and energy space that you can have.
And, this is also critical, that it is sustainable. A lot of us go madly off and get the latest health fad and diet fad, but it is not sustainable. When you find the right thing for you, this will actually be a key component. Because you can see yourself continuing to do it, you can see it becoming a lifestyle rather than something you need to do because you need to lose extra pounds.
This is not “pound” issue this is a “can I bend over and tie my shoelace” issue, can I walk up a flight of stairs, is my heart in good condition, you know, are my lungs in good condition? Think of it as your internal organs functioning as they should and give them as much of a helping hand as you can.
So that’s your Daily Grain for today!
